Jean Marie Vianney Gatabazi, the former Minister of Local Government, and Maj. Gen (Rtd) Jack Nziza, a former senior official in Rwanda’s military, have been appointed to new roles.
Their appointments were made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame on Wednesday, July 16.
According to the statement released by Prime Minister Dr. Édouard Ngirente, Maj. Gen (Rtd) Jack Nziza has been appointed Vice President of the National Commission for the Demobilization and Reintegration of Ex-Combatants.
Maj. Gen (Rtd) Nziza, who retired from the RDF in 2017, previously served in various roles, including as Inspector General of the Rwanda Defence Force and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence.
On the other hand, Gatabazi was appointed as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the same commission.
Prior to this, Gatabazi served as Minister of Local Government, Governor of the Northern Province, and as a Member of Parliament.
Other individuals appointed to the same commission include Dancille Nyirarugero, former Governor of the Northern Province, and Jacqueline Muhongayire.
Meanwhile, Valerie Nyirahabineza was appointed President of the commission, a position she had already been holding.
The Cabinet also appointed Amb. Vincent Karega, who was Rwanda’s envoy to the Great Lakes Region, as the new Ambassador to Algeria, while Innocent Muhizi, who was the CEO of the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA), was named Rwanda’s Ambassador to Singapore.
Permanent Secretaries were also appointed in various ministries, including:
