On Saturday, June 28<\/strong>, fighting resumed between the joint Congolese and Ugandan forces (FARDC-UPDF)<\/strong> and a Mai-Mai militia group<\/strong> in the city of Muhola<\/strong>, located in Lubero Territory<\/strong> (North Kivu).<\/em><\/p>\n

The two armies are attempting to drive out the militia from the area, where the group is accused of committing abuses against civilians<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to local reports, the situation remains unclear<\/strong>, and many residents have fled<\/strong> the region in search of safety.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the Congolese (FARDC)<\/strong> and Ugandan (UPDF)<\/strong> forces reportedly bombarded the villages<\/strong> of Vulinda and Ngovole<\/strong>, aiming at destroying Mai-Mai camps<\/strong> on Muhola hill<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Sources from civil protection services stated that clashes between the parties<\/strong> have led to the displacement of many civilians toward Mambira, Muhangi, and Vusamba centers<\/strong>, and even as far as Butembo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When contacted by Radio Okapi<\/strong>, the Administrator of Lubero Territory<\/strong> declined to confirm that the fighting had resumed.<\/p>\n

Previously, on Thursday, June 26<\/strong>, the joint forces launched an assault on the Mai-Mai group<\/strong> operating on Muhola hill<\/strong> and along the Byambwe\u2013Masingi road<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Since then, several villages are said to have emptied of their residents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This crisis has also impacted food prices<\/strong> in local markets, particularly in the city of Butembo<\/strong>, which relies on food supplies from the conflict zone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
