On Saturday<\/strong>, North Korean President Kim Jong-un<\/strong> hosted Russia\u2019s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov<\/strong>, who is on an official visit to North Korea.<\/em><\/p>\n

The meeting between Kim and Lavrov took place in the city of Wonsan<\/strong>, as confirmed by Russia\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

A photo shared by the Ministry on its official X (formerly Twitter) account<\/strong> shows the two leaders smiling as they warmly shake hands.<\/p>\n

Lavrov\u2019s visit comes as Moscow and Pyongyang continue to strengthen their bilateral friendship<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

North Korea is one of the few countries openly supporting Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine<\/strong>, which has lasted four years<\/strong>. Pyongyang has reportedly sent thousands of troops and weapons<\/strong> that have helped Russian forces repel Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

British military intelligence<\/strong> estimates that at least 6,000 North Korean soldiers<\/strong> have been killed in the conflict so far.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, South Korea\u2019s military intelligence<\/strong> believes that North Korea may be preparing to send more troops<\/strong> to Ukraine between this July and August<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Before meeting President Kim, Minister Lavrov had earlier held talks with North Korean Foreign Minister Son Hui<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lavrov thanked North Korean leadership for sending \u201ctroops with exceptional combat expertise<\/strong>\u201d to assist Russia in regaining its territories.<\/p>\n

North Korea has reaffirmed its commitment<\/strong> to supporting Moscow<\/strong> in the ongoing war.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
