Eighteen days ago, Bwiza.com published the story of 29-year-old Jean Claude Muhire, a resident of Kimisagara Sector in Nyarugenge District, who has been receiving treatment at Kigali Hospital (CHUK) for 20 months.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The young man is known for his courageous deeds even afterwards, in his weakness, as many witness. These actions also led him to represent the country more often; where he has also won various awards that make the country proud.<\/p>\n

Summary of Muhire’s case<\/strong><\/p>\n

In February 2019, Muhire was diagnosed with End-Stage (Stage 5) Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Anemia and hypertension. Doctors recommended that the only solution at this point is a Kidney Transplant. <\/p>\n

Luckily, his colleague allowed to give him a kidney, but it requires him to be replaced abroad.<\/p>\n

Last month, he found Egypt’s As-Salam International Hospital which is willing to operate him. He has enough money raised to support his medical care, take him to Egypt, and get all necessities.<\/p>\n

In September 2020, the biggest problem for him was that he missed the plane to take him to Egypt as the Ethiopian Airlines told him that no plane to carry him and that he was on a breathing machine.<\/p>\n

Now, he is on the dialysis, thanks to the CHUK Doctor’s sacrifice. However, he cannot afford to get a Doctor to accompany him to Egypt as required. He has written to Rwanda’s Ministry of Health for a help, still waiting the answer. <\/p>\n

His heroism<\/strong><\/p>\n

Muhire founded the non-governmental organization ‘Love the Kids Foundation’ in August 2015, operating in Kimisagara Sector, after working as a volunteer at an orphanage named after ‘Antoine’.<\/p>\n

Love the Kids focuses on helping children get a better education, where they pay for their education, study well with all the necessary equipment and pay for school fees.<\/p>\n

The organization also works with the families of these children, where they provide counseling to parents or guardians.<\/p>\n

Thanks to his deed including helping the children, writing books and film making talent, he has received several recognitions for his works including being: Honorary Citizen of Boone (2019) Laureate of the French Government’s Human Rights Prize (2018),<\/p>\n

Mandela Washington Fellow at Appalachian State University (2017), Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Young Leaders alumnus (2016), Queen’s Young Leader, Africa Youth Awards (2016), Winner for Leader of the Year, Global Dialogues contest (2015) International Winner, TEDx Speaker and more. <\/p>\n
