AKWOS would like to recruit Program Officer for the Secretariat based in the City of Kigali in Gasabo District.<\/p>\n
Organization of Women in Sports (AKWOS) Background<\/p>\n
Organization of Women in Sports (AKWOS) is a Women-led organization based in Rwanda. The organization aims to remove the stereotypes that prevent Women from participating in Sports. AKWOS has become a platform for social change to address issues of Gender Equality, Women\u2019s empowerment, and Women\u2019s economic inclusion in Rwanda. AKWOS Mission is: \u201cTo Empower East-African Women, starting from Rwanda, through Sports and Education\u201d. <\/p>\n
For that purpose, AKWOS would like to recruit a highly qualified Program Officer to coordinate the successful implementation of the above project activities. <\/p>\n
II. About the Role<\/p>\n
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Officer will be responsible for project implementation at the community and sector level and to be involved with AKWOS right holders and case management to ensure the timely quality service delivery.<\/p>\n
III. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/p>\n
Under the supervision of Executive Director, The Program Manager will be accountable for the following tasks and responsibilities:<\/p>\n
Leads and implements education, community mobilization, and awareness-raising campaign activities within AKWOS,
\nIdentifies internal capacity building needs for AKWOS staff and implement them,
\nLeads and participates collaboratively in developing\/ reviewing training modules on gender and for specific projects in particular,
\nReviews and designs appropriate modules, tools, and strategies that aims at ending GBV and promoting gender equitable norms,
\nCoordinates\/or implements projects and plans that promotes Women\u2019s in sports, and fighting gender-based violence,
\nDevelops advocacy, communication, and mobilization messages and capitalization of AKWOS activities for public awareness,
\nSupports the review and programming of AKWOS projects,
\nProvide support in writing new proposals and participates in mobilizing funds;
\nDesigns and delivers varied and innovative education and training materials,
\nAssesses collaboratively and jointly the capacity needs of AKWOS and M&E strategies and assesse the quality of the services provided by AKWOS,
\nMaps out partner in different domains and advise AKWOS Management accordingly,
\nMonitors and evaluates collaboratively the influence\/impact of training materials and courses, and uses data to update materials and approaches,
\nWorks closely with other AKWOS Staff in areas of project development and reporting projects work,
\nWorks within an agreed work plan, meeting project requirements and priorities,
\nWorks under the implementing organization and direct supervision of the Executive Director to coordinate, facilitate and finalize project implementation process;
\nTo lead the planning and monitoring process for both realization of planned activities and results as well as budget monitoring in consultation with the finance officer;
\nTo organize monthly meetings with the project officer and carry out monitoring and evaluating field missions;
\nFacilitates capturing the project participants\u2019 functional requirements;
\nEstablishes definition of project scope and general baseline for time\/costs;
\nTo develop key project documents;
\nFacilitates and is accountable for development of detailed project estimates;
\nDevelops and is accountable for a detailed baseline of project schedule;
\nDevelops all project controls, including cost, time, change, and risk;
\nOversees project execution with regard to schedule, budget, scope, quality, and risk;
\nMaintains accountability for quality of project deliverables;
\nManages overall project communications, including project documentation and reporting;
\nFacilitates assignment\/accountability of project resources;
\nWorks with implementing project officer on resource allocation and management of resource contentions;
\nManages project team efficiency and effectiveness, while coordinating and fostering teamwork;
\nFacilitates project team meetings and status review meetings;
\nEnsures adherence to the organization\u2019s project management framework;
\nObtains written signoff on project completion;
\nProvides periodic feedback to individuals and Executive Director on their project performance,
\nTo fulfill other responsibilities that may be required by the Executive Director.
\nIII. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE <\/p>\n
AKWOS would like to recruite a highly experienced person with the following competences and qualifications:<\/p>\n
Being a Rwandan citizen, preferably a female candidate;
\nHold at least a Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in Education, Project Management, Economics, and social sciences or any other related field;
\nHave practically a proven working experience of at least 5 years managing or coordinating projects related to gender and girls\/ women empowerment;
\nMinimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in project management, project monitoring, and evaluation, and relevant connected fields;
\nProven experience working in a team and working with partners in the implementation of a project;
\nAbility to coordinate a project;
\nAbility to work in a team;
\nExcellent analytical, interpersonal, communication, and reporting skills;
\nHas the capacity to manage her work independently;
\nExcellent command of English and Kinyarwanda and outstanding written. The knowledge of french will be an advantage;
\nPossess project management skills in planning, implementing gender and women empowerment projects;
\nPossess skills and knowledge on girls and women\u2019s rights and Sports
\nPossess knowledge and experience to work with youth, especially girls on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights;
\nPossess Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning skills;
\nHave an experience of working with adolescents and young girls (That is an advantage);
\nPossess skills, knowledge, and experience on delivering training (That is an advantage)
\nGood knowledge of NGOs and other local development agencies will be considered as an asset;
\nGood communication and social skills;
\nComputer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS powerpoint and internet)
