{"id":44895,"date":"2022-02-24T08:55:03","date_gmt":"2022-02-24T08:55:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.bwiza.com\/2022\/02\/24\/russian-forces-invade-ukraine-with-strikes-on-major-cities\/"},"modified":"2025-02-25T19:14:59","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T17:14:59","slug":"russian-forces-invade-ukraine-with-strikes-on-major-cities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bwiza.com\/?p=44895","title":{"rendered":"Russian forces invade Ukraine with strikes on major cities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Russian president, Vladmir Putin approves \u2018special military operation\u2019 in Ukraine starting with major cities.<\/p>\n<p> Russian forces fired missiles at several cities in Ukraine and landed troops on its coast on Thursday, officials and media said, after President Vladimir Putin authorised what he called a special military operation in the east.<\/p>\n<p>Russian forces have attacked Ukraine after President Vladimir Putin announced he had authorised a \u201cspecial military operation\u201d in the ountry\u2019s east at the same time as the United Nations Security Council met for its second emergency meeting this week.<\/p>\n<p>Russian media on Thursday reported President Putin saying he had approved a \u201cspecial military operation\u201d in the Donbas region of Ukraine, where Moscow earlier recognised rebel-held territories in Luhansk and Donetsk and said they had asked for its \u201chelp\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces were only a matter of time, he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPutin has just launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine,\u201d Ukraine\u2019s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba wrote on Twitter. \u201cPeaceful Ukrainian cities are under strikes. This is a war of aggression. Ukraine will defend itself and will win. The world can and must stop Putin. The time to act is now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>US President Joe Biden, in a phone call with Zelenskyy, condemned the \u201cunprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces\u201d, the White House said.<\/p>\n<p>Biden said in a statement he briefed Zelenskyy on Washington\u2019s and its allies\u2019 planned next steps against Russia, including \u201csevere sanctions\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Russian president, Vladmir Putin approves \u2018special military operation\u2019 in Ukraine starting with major cities.
