Rwanda National Congress (RNC) of exiled former Rwandan Lieutenant General and Chief of Staff, Kayumba Nyamwasa, is seeking the \u2018amicable dialogue\u2019 with the government of which it opposes.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a letter of March 22, 2022, the congress Secretary General, Gervais Condo, requests the President of Republic of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye to play the role of mediator and facilitator.<\/p>\n

\u201cRwanda National Congress is prepared for dialogue with the Rwandan government in the interest of peace. We request your Excellency to take up the mediator and facilitator role between the government of Rwanda and the opposition, to assist resolves the Rwandan situation amicably.\u201d The letter says.<\/p>\n

And to add \u201cRwanda National Congress seeks open, frank and unreserved dialogue between the government of Rwanda and the opposition, whether inside or outside Rwanda. We therefore call upon your good offices your Excellency, to undertake this noble task and we are ready to play our part.\u201d<\/p>\n

But during the press conference took place on March 16, 2022, The Secretary of State in Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of East African Community (EAC), Prof. Manasseh Nshuti emphasized there is no plan for a dialogue with Kayumba.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe treat Kayumba and the associates as the people who want to put our national security under threat, it is well known. No way to negotiate with them. […] That\u2019s impossible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rwanda National Congress was found by Kayumba and his friends Patrick Karegeya, Dr Theogene Rudasingwa and Gerald Gahima in December 2010. The government of Rwanda treats the congress as the terrorist group.
