Chief Justice of Rwanda, Dr Faustin Ntezilyayo, insists that satisfying the public requires consistent judicial reform which must be undertaken in ways that are responsible to the expectations and needs of public.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is in his, May 19; welcome remarks during the meeting with the President of Supreme Court of Justice of Democratic Republic of S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Principe, Dr. Manuel Silva Gomes Cravid and his delegation that are in Rwanda for a one-week study tour.<\/p>\n

As he welcomes the delegation, Dr. Ntezilyayo says this visit is good opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the judiciary systems of both states and exchange views on judicial reform, best practices and how to overcome the challenges faced in delivering timely and quality justice to the citizens.<\/p>\n

\u201cCourts provide different judicial services to the public and satisfying the public requires consistent judicial reform which must be undertaken in ways that are responsible to the expectations and needs of public. Only in this way, will public trust and confidence maintained and enhanced.\u201d Dr. Ntezilyayo insists.<\/p>\n

Among the reforms, Dr. Ntezilyayo mentions leveraging information and communications technologies (ICT) in justice administration to offer better way of transforming existing practices, present potential for creating new practices and changing the way the justice administration delivers service.<\/p>\n

\u201cDigital justice or digitization of court processes can build smarter justice systems through the incorporation of technology based solutions such as machine learning, case management systems, processes automation, online conflict management, legal research, litigation analysis, case prediction and data visualization, among others.\u201d Dr. Ntezilyayo.<\/p>\n

This delegation will have opportunity to be taken through activities that have been undertaken in digitizing court processes in Rwanda, a process that started when an Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS) rolled out in 2016 and share experience with colleagues in Rwanda in rolling it out within different justice systems.
