{"id":48648,"date":"2022-06-11T09:57:34","date_gmt":"2022-06-11T09:57:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.bwiza.com\/2022\/06\/11\/two-rockets-fired-in-musanze-as-fardc-accuses-rdf-shelling-that-killed-two-kids\/"},"modified":"2025-02-25T19:12:06","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T17:12:06","slug":"two-rockets-fired-in-musanze-as-fardc-accuses-rdf-shelling-that-killed-two-kids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bwiza.com\/?p=48648","title":{"rendered":"Two rockets fired in Musanze as FARDC accuses RDF shelling that killed two kids"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two rockets were shelled on Rwandan territory in Kinigi Sector, Musanze District from the Democratic Republic of Congo on Friday, June 10, the Rwanda Defence Force  confirmed on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the RDF said the Congolese army (FARDC) fired the two 122mm rockets into Rwanda from the Bunagana area.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThere were no casualties but the local population is terrified,\u201d the statement says<\/p>\n<p>Residents of Nyabigoma Cell in Kinigi Sector who spoke to The New Times said they heard bomb shells at around 12:00 on Friday. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in my pyrethrum farm, when I saw one bomb drop close to where I was standing. I rushed home to see the children. Then I heard another bomb drop, and people said it hit a farm of my neighbour,\u201d Donathile Harerimana said.<\/p>\n<p>She said local authorities arrived shortly after the incident and comforted the residents.<\/p>\n<p>The rockets were dropped on agricultural land in a residential area, near the Volcanoes National Park, a few kilometres from the Rwanda-DR Congo border.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday evening, FARDC said in a statement that &#8221; RDF has shelled our territory killing two boys, 9,6 respectively another one injured.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The shelling by FARDC is the third in less than four months, following two similar incidents in March and May in Musanze and Burera districts, which left several civilians injured and property damaged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two rockets were shelled on Rwandan territory in Kinigi Sector, Musanze District from the Democratic Republic of Congo on Friday, June 10, the Rwanda Defence Force confirmed on Friday.
