{"id":48904,"date":"2022-06-20T08:24:41","date_gmt":"2022-06-20T08:24:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.bwiza.com\/2022\/06\/20\/two-killed-six-injured-in-suspected-fln-attack-in-nyungwe\/"},"modified":"2025-02-25T19:11:59","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T17:11:59","slug":"two-killed-six-injured-in-suspected-fln-attack-in-nyungwe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bwiza.com\/?p=48904","title":{"rendered":"Two killed, six injured in suspected FLN attack in Nyungwe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two people were killed on Saturday, June 18 in an armed attack suspected to have been carried out by the National Liberation Front (FLN), in Kitabi sector, Nyamagabe district. <\/p>\n<p>According to a statement by the Rwanda National Police (RNP), the attack took place at 2pm when &#8220;armed thugs suspected to be members of the FLN outfit operating across the border, shot at a public passenger bus on the Nyamagabe-Rusizi road.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> Previously, members of this group have attacked Rwanda coming either from Burundi or Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;The assailants killed the bus driver and one passenger, and also injured six other passengers who were evacuated to Kigeme hospital and University Teaching Hospital in Butare (CHUB)for treatment,&#8221; it added.<\/p>\n<p>The assailants are being tracked down, according to RNP&#8217;s statement.<\/p>\n<p>The FLN is an anti-Rwanda militia group operating in the DRC.<\/p>\n<p>It was behind the 2018 and 2019 attacks in South-Western Rwanda, where at least nine unarmed civilians lost their lives, more others injured and property destroyed or looted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two people were killed on Saturday, June 18 in an armed attack suspected to have been carried out by the National Liberation Front (FLN), in Kitabi sector, Nyamagabe district.
