World-famous rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs received a warm welcome from fellow inmates as he returned to prison after being acquitted in a major case where he was accused of human trafficking and terrorism-related activities.
At 55 years old, Diddy was cleared of the most serious charges that could have sentenced him to life in prison. However, he remains behind bars due to a lesser charge of soliciting prostitution, which carries a lighter sentence. He has already served 10 months.
His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, told reporters that inmates cheered upon his return, shouting: “We never see someone beat the government!”
The trial lasted eight weeks and involved around 30 witnesses, including former employees. Diddy himself never testified, and his legal team also called no witnesses to the stand.
His defense team acknowledged that while Diddy had a history of turbulent relationships and behavioral issues, this was not enough to convict him of human trafficking.
Agnifilo, a former federal prosecutor, explained that his deep understanding of the weaknesses in the laws surrounding trafficking and terrorism allegations helped him secure the victory in court.
