The Intermediate Prosecutor’s Office of Gasabo has received the case file of a 28-year-old man accused of killing his wife — who was the same age — after two months of living together without being legally married. He stabbed her with a knife.
The crime reportedly occurred during the night of June 4, 2025, in Kicukiro District, Masaka Sector, Gitaraga Cell, Kajevuba Village.
According to the Prosecution Office, the suspect waited until his wife was asleep, then stabbed her multiple times in the neck and fled to Uganda. He was later arrested at the Gatuna border while returning to Rwanda.
During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, saying they had a dispute after he told her he no longer wanted to be with her, and he then decided to kill her.
He is being prosecuted for intentional homicide, a crime defined under Article 107 of Law No. 68/2018 of 30/08/2018, which outlines general offences and penalties.
