The Prosecution at the Intermediate Level of Huye is pursuing legal action against five individuals — four men and one woman — suspected of having collaborated in the murder of a 57-year-old man who worked as a security guard. The victim was killed by having his throat slit.

The alleged crime occurred during the night of June 7, 2025, around 10:00 p.m., in Ngoma III Village, Ngoma Cell, Ngoma Sector, Huye District. According to a report by the National Public Prosecution Authority, the victim was found dead inside his home.

During interrogation, the suspects — who were working in the same security company as the deceased — stated that their supervisor had summoned them and taken them to the victim’s house. After breaking into the house and waiting for the man to return, they ambushed him as he attempted to switch on the light. They then beat him, and one of them slit his throat. After committing the act, they locked the house and fled the scene. The body was only discovered two days later.

They claimed that the motive behind the murder was a conflict between the victim and their supervisor, as well as with a woman he was allegedly having an affair with. The supervisor and the woman are said to have masterminded the plot and involved the others in its execution. The suspects have pleaded for forgiveness.

If convicted of murder, each of the accused faces a life sentence, in accordance with Article 107 of Law nº 68/2018 of 30/08/2018, which defines offences and general penalties.
