Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has rebuffed a call from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who urged Iran to “unconditionally surrender” in the conflict with Israel.
On Tuesday, June 17, Trump demanded Iran “surrender without condition,” declaring that the U.S. had “run out of patience.”
In a televised speech on Wednesday, Khamenei declared that Iran would never yield, rejecting Trump’s ultimatum:
“Smart people who know Iran… will never threaten this nation as though it would surrender, because the Iranian nation will never surrender.”
He also warned the United States that any military intervention would result in “irreparable damage.”
Meanwhile, hostilities have escalated dramatically: Israel reportedly launched over 50 airstrikes on approximately 20 locations in Iran, while Iran’s military forces scrambled to prepare missile attacks.
