The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday that it has killed Ali Shadmani, Iran’s top-ranking general during wartime.
In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the IDF described Ali Shadmani as “the highest-ranking military officer in Iran and a close adviser to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.”
The IDF added that Shadmani was killed in an airstrike carried out by Israeli forces in the center of Tehran, following “undeniably accurate intelligence.”
Ali Shadmani had only recently been appointed to the position, replacing Alam Ali Rashid, who was killed earlier this month.
His death adds to the growing list of Iranian military officials killed by Israel in the past five days, including the Commander of Iran’s Ground Forces, the Chief of Staff, the Air Force Commander, and the head of military intelligence, among others.
