The M23 rebel group has driven out Wazalendo militia fighters from the village of Mulema, in the Kisimba Groupement, located in Walikale Territory, after defeating them in battle.
Heavy fighting between the two sides took place on Sunday, June 8.
Reports indicate that M23 troops, coming from an area called Kalonge, launched an attack on Wazalendo positions in Mulema and eventually took control of the area.
After the Wazalendo fighters retreated, M23 reportedly burned down their camps and other locations before also pulling out.
M23 has been controlling parts of the Kisimba Groupement since February this year, when they entered Walikale Territory.
