Rwanda’s new Ambassador to the United Nations, Martin Ngoga, has officially assumed his duties by presenting his credentials to the UN Secretary-General.

On Thursday, May 22, Ambassador Martin Ngoga presented his letters of credence to Antonio Guterres, authorizing him to represent Rwanda at the United Nations.

He told Guterres:
“His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda, has entrusted me to serve as the Ambassador and representative of Rwanda to the United Nations. I bring you greetings from the President, the Government, and the people of Rwanda.”

Ambassador Ngoga also expressed his commitment to working closely with Guterres and all members of the UN community in a constructive spirit to advance shared values.

Before this appointment, Martin Ngoga served as Rwanda’s Ambassador to Kenya and Somalia.

He has held various high-level positions, including Rwanda’s Prosecutor General and Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Since 2017, he has also served as the Chairman of the FIFA Ethics Committee.

Ambassador Ngoga replaces Amb. Ernest Rwamucyo, who left the position in March this year.

It is expected that Ernest Rwamucyo will be appointed as Rwanda’s Ambassador to Kenya and Somalia.
