Karasira Aimable, a former lecturer at the University of Rwanda and popular rapper known as Professor Nigga, made another appearance in court, flashing the symbolic hand gesture of the Tuff Gangs crew.
This occurred on Thursday, June 5, 2025, when he appeared before the High Council Chamber for International and Cross-Border Crimes, based in the Nyanza District.
Karasira is being prosecuted for crimes including genocide denial and justification, allegedly committed through content on his YouTube channel during various discussions. Before the hearing began, while speaking with his defense lawyers, he noticed the presence of journalists and posed for a photo making the hand sign widely recognized by followers of the Hip Hop movement in Rwanda, commonly used to signify solidarity and unity within the Tuff Gangs group.
The gesture forms the letter “T” using the right hand held horizontally while the left hand forms a fist and points downward.
Karasira rose to fame through music before venturing into politically sensitive commentary, expressing controversial views which have drawn legal scrutiny in Rwanda.
