Rwanda Welcomes Over 800 New Elite Police Special Forces (Photos)

On Friday, May 16, the Rwanda National Police gained 833 new officers in its elite Special Forces unit.

This Friday marked the official completion of the Basic Police Special Forces course by these new recruits, a ceremony presided over by the Inspector General of Police, CG Felix Namuhoranye.

The training, which lasted for three months, took place at the Counter-Terrorism Training Center (CTTC) located in Mayange, Bugesera District.

A total of 833 officers participated in the course, including 205 women.

This is the second cohort of Rwanda’s Special Police Force. The first group, consisting of 283 officers, completed their training in April 2024.

Among the newly graduated Special Force officers, more than 200 are women.
