Reports indicate that more than 20 houses were burned down following a fire outbreak that occurred overnight on Thursday, June 19, 2025, on Rutshuru Road, in the Kahembe area, Karisimbi commune, in the city of Goma.
According to Ibrahim Kabikire Maguru, the local leader, the fire was caused by an electrical fault, which quickly spread and engulfed many homes, as reported by mediacongo.net.

He said:
“Many residents of Rutshuru Avenue in the Kahembe neighborhood spent the night outside after a fire ravaged their houses. The fire was caused by an electrical fault. We are thankful that fire trucks responded quickly, because without their intervention, the damage would have been much worse. So far, around twenty homes have been destroyed.”
