In Nyagatovu Village, Kavumu Cell, Busasamana Sector in Nyanza District, a disturbing incident has been reported involving an 18-year-old young man suspected of attempting to sexually assault a cow. When the cow fought back and gored him with its horns, he allegedly turned to a chicken, which he violated until it died. The young man is known in the area as a goat herder.
According to local authorities and the chicken owner, who spoke to BTN TV, the suspect first tried to approach the cow, but it resisted and attacked him with its horns. He then abandoned it and looked for another animal that wouldn’t resist.
The event came to light after a village meeting held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, around 6:00 PM. One of the village security representatives returned home to find his chicken dead with signs of a violent act.
The village chief said he immediately dispatched the security officer to the chicken owner’s home, where the suspect was also residing. The suspect showed up naked, carrying the blood-stained chicken. His genitals were reportedly bloodied, further fueling suspicion of his involvement.
When presented before the remaining villagers, the young man openly confessed that he had sexually abused the chicken until it died.
The police were informed of the matter but stated that for a formal case file to be opened, the chicken’s owner would have to officially file a complaint for the killing of livestock. However, the owner chose instead to send the young man back to his family in Kibirizi Sector, Mututu Cell.
Reports suggest that the young man might have used marijuana before committing the act, although no legal evidence has been confirmed. The village leader added that the suspect showed no visible signs of mental illness during the incident.
