Top Egyptian Army Commander on Strategic Military Visit to Rwanda

The Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Ahmed Fathi Ibrahim Khalifa, is in Rwanda for a three-day working visit aimed at strengthening military cooperation. His visit began on Sunday, June 1, 2025.

Upon arrival in Rwanda, Lieutenant General Ahmed Fathi Ibrahim Khalifa was received by his Rwandan counterpart, General MK Mubarakh, the Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), and also toured the RDF Headquarters.

This visit is intended to further deepen the military partnership between the Egyptian and Rwandan Armed Forces. It marks a significant step in strengthening collaboration, particularly in training, health services, and other key areas of mutual interest.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Fathi Ibrahim Khalifa is accompanied by a delegation from Egypt, and they were warmly welcomed by the Rwandan hosts.

The bilateral talks between the two Chiefs of Staff focused on enhancing military cooperation, streamlining collaboration, and exploring additional areas for long-term partnership between the armed forces of both countries.

Following these discussions, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two military chiefs, affirming the commitment of both armies to foster sustainable and mutually beneficial collaboration.

Before visiting the RDF Headquarters, the Egyptian army commander paid his respects to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial located in Gisozi.
