At least 38 people have died and 28 others were injured after two buses collided head-on and caught fire in the Kilimanjaro region in northern Tanzania.
The regional commissioner, Nurdin Babu, said the accident occurred on Saturday evening in the Same district.
He stated that the crash happened after a front tire of one of the buses burst, leading to a fire that engulfed both vehicles, killing and injuring many of the passengers.
Out of the 28 injured, 22 have been treated and discharged from hospital, while six are still receiving medical care.
Road accidents are a frequent cause of death in Tanzania, often blamed on poorly maintained vehicles and reckless driving.
