U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that his administration will resume sending defensive weapons to Ukraine, after previously halting some military aid.
He made the remarks during a press briefing ahead of a dinner meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump stated:
“We’re going to provide them with equipment again. They have to defend themselves. They’re under very heavy attack.”
This comes after the White House said the earlier aid suspension was intended to reassess how budget resources are used to support foreign countries, with a focus on prioritizing American interests.
The U.S. confirmed that under Trump’s new approach, Ukraine will now receive military supplies, including air defense systems, to help bolster its self-defense.
