Bugesera FC coach Banamwana Camarade has revealed that individuals connected to Rayon Sports disguised themselves as electrical technicians to sneak into the hotel where his team was in a training camp, ahead of their match against Rayon Sports last Saturday.
Speaking to BB Kigali, Banamwana stated that this happened before the league match between Bugesera FC and Rayon Sports, which was scheduled to be played at Bugesera Stadium but was not completed due to fan-related chaos from the Nyanza-based team.
The coach explained that while they were at the hotel, a power outage occurred, prompting the team to call in technicians to fix the problem.
Among the people who came posing as technicians, they reportedly identified someone affiliated with Rayon Sports who had disguised himself in order to gather internal information about Bugesera FC.
Coach Banamwana described this behavior as highly unusual and called on security and football authorities in the country to investigate the matter, saying it undermines fair competition based on technical abilities on the pitch.
The disrupted match was supposed to take place on Saturday, May 18, 2025, but it was suspended before the final whistle. The main reason cited was disorder caused by Rayon Sports fans who were unhappy with the officiating.
As of now, the Rwandan Football Federation (FERWAFA) has announced that the match will be replayed behind closed doors and will resume from the 57th minute, with Bugesera FC leading 2-0.
