Organization Profile
Nile Basin Club (NBC) is an environmental and development non-profit organization that promotes Education for Sustainable Development "ESD" to low-income families by creating opportunities that promote their self-sufficiency toward a sustainable future. In partnership with its stakeholders, Nile Basin Club-NBC is implementing a Climate Change Project in Ngoma District that supports women farmers organized into groups and cooperatives. To fill the vacant position, Nile Basin Club is recruiting a qualified and competent Agronomist Intern for a period of 7 months.

Brief project description
The overall objective of the project is to build climate resilience and improve food security and the incomes of women smallholder farmers organized into groups and cooperatives in Ngoma District, Jarama Sector. The project will provide training for women farmers on Financial Inclusion, Gender Mainstreaming, Climate Smart Agriculture, and Commercial Rabbit Farming.

General Position Summary
The Agronomist Intern will ensure the implementation of the project activities at the field level on a daily basis. She/he will coordinate the performance of Farmer to Farmer Trainers �FFTs� and recruit Service Providers. He/she will make sure that the farmers have implemented what they have learned during training sessions at the cooperative, group, and family levels for possible recognition at the end of the project cycle. She/he will prepare a weekly action plan and submit weekly activities� progress reports.

Duties and Responsibilities
As part of the project team, the Agronomist Intern shall perform the following duties and responsibilities:

Coordinate and ensure smooth implementation of project program activities at the field level.
Represent NBC at the grassroots level in the meetings organized by the local authorities and other project stakeholders.
Monitor and assess the performance of the recruited Service Providers, Famer-to-Farmer Trainers �FFTs�, cooperatives, groups, and individual farmers.
Assist women farmers organized into groups and cooperatives on Value Chain Development including improved farming techniques through Farmer Field Schools (FFS), rabbit farming, compost making, Integrated Pest Management, and post-harvesting technology.
Link farmer groups & cooperatives with agro-inputs dealers to access quality seeds, and fertilizers and make sure that they are used efficiently.
Assist farmers in the calculation of the cost of production of the selected crops.
Follow on group savings and sensitize farmers to work with financial services and assist them in loan acquisition.
Assist the cooperatives, groups, and families to develop other non-agricultural income-generating activities.
Submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and other required reports.
To perform any other duty that may be assigned by Nile Basin Club�s management.
Required Qualifications
Interested candidates should fulfill the following criteria:

Bachelor�s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development, Agribusiness or justifying that he/she has completed the final research dissertation waiting for presentation as proven by his/her recent lecturer and direct supervisor�s recommendation letters.
Fluent in Kinyarwanda, English, or French.
Strong desire for personal and professional growth.
Ability to learn quickly, and work both independently and as part of a team.
Ability to embrace Nile Basin�s values
Excellent communication, presentation, and reporting skills.
Computer literate with good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
Understanding of the Rwandan Cooperative Sector especially in Cooperative Management and Leadership.
Knowledge of community mobilization and sensitization.
Ability to multitask and deal with stressful situations.
Residing near the project area is an added advantage (e.g. Eastern Province).
