The Intermediate Level Prosecution Office in Musanze has received the case file of a 27-year-old man suspected of killing his employer, who had hired him to oversee his agricultural and livestock activities, allegedly with the intent to rob him.
The man’s death became known on February 2, 2025, when neighbors and his son went to his home in Ruli Sector, Gakenke District—where he used to carry out his farming and animal husbandry activities—and found only his clothes: trousers, a shirt, and shoes. However, the man himself was missing, prompting suspicions that he had been killed.
After a search, his body was discovered in a latrine, tied up inside a sack, with his hands and legs bound and multiple injuries on his body. Security services were called immediately.
Following his arrest, the suspect—who had been in charge of the deceased’s farming and livestock operations—confessed to the crime, admitting that he struck the man on the head with a hoe, placed him in a sack that was at the house, and dumped him into the latrine to hide the body. He said he committed the murder to steal some of the deceased’s property.
The crime is covered under Article 107 of Law No. 68/2018 of August 30, 2018, which defines offenses and penalties in general.
