APR FC has sacked its Serbian head coach, Darko Novic, on Tuesday, May 13.
Novic had been in charge of the Rwanda Defense Forces’ club since last year, replacing Frenchman Thierry Froger.
Reports indicate that APR FC decided to terminate Novic’s contract—which still had one year left—on Tuesday, even though the coach had not been officially informed yet.
Recently, Novic led APR FC to win the Peace Cup after beating Rayon Sports 2-0 in the final. Despite this victory, fans often criticized his controversial coaching methods.
His dismissal comes as APR FC remains in a tight title race against Rayon Sports, with only three matches left in the league season.
The club is still holding slim hopes of winning the league title, having spent heavily during last summer’s transfer window to acquire new players.
