On Saturday, May 24, 2025, Rwanda’s security forces joined residents of Mucojo in Macomia District, Cabo Delgado Province of Mozambique, for a community cleanup (Umuganda).
The Rwandan Security Forces (RSF), currently deployed to combat terrorism in the region, collaborated with locals to clean Mucojo Market and its surroundings.
This area, which hosted the community activity, was previously a hideout for terrorists until it was liberated by Rwandan security forces in October 2024.

The leader of Mucojo, Hassan Fazenda, expressed gratitude to the Rwandan military and police deployed in Mozambique for freeing the area and restoring security.
Hassan Fazenda stated:
“We are grateful for your sacrifice, which enabled us to return to our homes. Your support is helping us recover from the deep wounds left by four years of terrorist activities.”

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Mugabo, speaking on behalf of Rwanda’s security forces, also commended the citizens and local leaders for their continued cooperation in eradicating terrorism from the region.
He emphasized that Rwanda remains committed to its mission, particularly in activities aimed at restoring wellbeing and lasting peace in the area.
