Rwanda and Algeria yesterday, Tuesday, signed 12 new cooperation agreements in key sectors including air transport and visa removal.
The signing ceremony followed bilateral talks between President Paul Kagame and his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The Head of State is in the North African country for a two-day working visit.
The Rwandan Presidency announced that the 12 sectors of cooperation between Rwanda and Algeria include air transport, visa exemption, telecommunications, policing, pharmaceutical industries, higher education, justice, investment promotion, and entrepreneurship.
These new agreements add to the existing ones between Kigali and Algiers in education, defense, and security.
Besides holding talks and signing these agreements, Presidents Kagame and Tebboune also held a joint press conference.
During the press briefing, Rwanda’s Head of State confirmed that Rwanda will open an Embassy in Algeria in the near future.
President Paul Kagame also visited and laid a wreath at the Maqam Echahid Memorial, to honor Algeria’s national heroes who died in the country’s war of independence.
