On Monday, June 16, the Rwandan Senate’s Plenary Session approved its recommendations on the Government Budget for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, expressing satisfaction that several suggestions made by Senators were considered — including the increase in the agriculture budget.
The Senate also appreciated the rise in allocations to other sectors based on its earlier inputs during the pre-budget phase. These include:
-
Increased budget for energy, to support the national goal of achieving universal electricity access;
-
Additional funding for districts like Nyamagabe, Gisagara, Rutsiro, Kamonyi, Karongi, and Kayonza to accelerate poverty reduction programs;
-
Measures to facilitate the private sector and create jobs for youth;
-
Funding for unifying, constructing, and rehabilitating memorial sites of the Genocide against the Tutsi.
