The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) has announced that, effective Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 6:00 a.m., maximum retail prices for petroleum products in the country have been increased.

According to a statement signed by RURA’s Director General, Mr. RUGIGANA Evariste, the price of gasoline must not exceed RWF 1,803 per liter, and diesel must not exceed RWF 1,757 per liter. These prices include Value Added Tax (VAT).

RURA stated that this price hike is due to fluctuations in international oil markets, but emphasized that the Government of Rwanda continues to subsidize petroleum products to ease the pressure on citizens, especially in sectors involving transport and economic production.

The statement further stressed that the government remains committed to protecting public welfare by offsetting part of the fuel cost increases, to minimize the impact on living conditions and the national economy.

This increase follows a similar one two months ago, as countries worldwide continue to face the impact of wars, economic shifts, and the fluctuation of the US dollar on international markets.
