On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump harshly criticized Elon Musk, his former advisor, after the world’s richest man announced the creation of a new political party meant to challenge the two dominant political parties.
In a brief interview with reporters before boarding the presidential plane Air Force One, President Trump stated:
“I think starting a third party is foolish. We’ve always had a two-party system, and I believe launching a third party would only create more confusion.”
His statement came just one day after Musk revealed on his social media platform X that he had founded the America Party, aimed at offering an alternative to the long-standing dominance of the Republican and Democratic parties.
Elon Musk, who owns major companies including Tesla, known for producing electric vehicles, was once appointed head of a newly established ministry called DOGE (an acronym in English), tasked with reducing government spending. However, he later fell out with Trump over a tax law that negatively impacted his financial interests.
