On June 13, 2025, Israel launched a major military offensive named Operation Rising Lion, targeting Iran’s chemical facilities and military bases—including Natanz, a key site for uranium research believed to support Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Analysts say Israel’s aim was to halt Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Iran quickly retaliated by launching over 100 drones toward Israeli territory. This comes after Iran had already launched over 300 missiles and warplanes toward Israel in 2024, though many were intercepted in mid-air.
Biblical prophecy scholars—including Greg Laurie—believe these events resemble the signs foretold in Ezekiel 38–39, which prophesy that Persia (modern-day Iran) will join forces with powerful nations from the North to fight against Israel.
Laurie says that while these current events may not be the complete fulfillment of that prophecy, they could be the beginning. The Bible also predicts that Israel would return to its homeland (fulfilled in 1948), face many enemies, and live under constant threat—realities visible today.
Bible believers are reminded that such events should not cause fear, but rather urge preparation. Laurie emphasizes Jesus’ words:
“When these things begin to take place, look up, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:28)
All of this unfolds as biblical prophecy warns that Persia (Iran) will be among the nations to rise against Israel in the last days. Are these signs showing us we are approaching those end-time events? Many are still watching, but the true answer lies in God’s hands.
