Early this Friday morning around 4:30 a.m., a fire broke out at the artisan center in Gisozi Sector, Gasabo District in Kigali City, where carpentry and welding work is carried out.
Eyewitnesses said the fire started in structures where beds and other wooden furniture were sold, located near the roadside.
Although the cause of the fire is not yet known, reports indicate that it destroyed about half of the artisan center. Rwanda National Police began firefighting efforts while the fire was still intense.
So far, there is no confirmed report of any casualties. Investigations into the cause of the fire and assessment of the damage have commenced.
