On Tuesday, April 22, over 180 police officers stationed at the Rwanda National Police Headquarters in Kacyiru voluntarily donated blood to support patients in need of life-saving transfusions.
Rwanda Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Boniface Rutikanga, explained that this initiative stems from a partnership agreement between Rwanda National Police and the Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC). It also aligns with the police’s broader commitment to public welfare and community well-being.
He stated, “For us in the police force, donating blood is not only a matter of fulfilling our partnership agreement with RBC, but it’s also part of our duty to safeguard lives and promote the welfare of citizens. There’s no security in a community where people are suffering or at risk due to illness.”

Dr. Andre Munyemana, head of the Blood Transfusion Division at RBC, expressed gratitude to the police for their consistent support in blood donation drives and commended the officers for their life-saving compassion.
He remarked, “Blood donation is an act of kindness and humanity. Without timely donations, many lives would be lost. The enthusiasm and readiness shown by the police officers should inspire the rest of society to get involved in saving lives.”
Dr. Munyemana urged every Rwandan to consider blood donation as a personal responsibility, reminding them that anyone might need a transfusion someday — for themselves or a loved one.
