President Paul Kagame has dismissed Assistant Commissioner of Prisons (ACP) Dr. George Ruterana, along with 218 others from the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS).
ACP Dr. Ruterana was the Director of the Health Department within RCS.
The institution confirmed that he and his colleagues were dismissed by the President, though the reason for their removal was not disclosed.
According to the official RCS statement, President Kagame also returned eight staff members to civilian life and discharged two others.
Additionally, the President sent several senior officials into retirement, including Commissioner of Prisons (CP) John Bosco Kabanda, who led the Civic Education Division, and ACPs Camille Gatete, Mugisha Munana Salim, and Rutayisire Nshoza Emmanuel.
Furthermore, 10 senior officers, 14 junior officers, and 60 non-commissioned officers and warders were also retired.
Besides dismissals and retirements, the President promoted a number of officers within RCS.
Among them, Chief Superintendents of Prisons (CSP) Moses Ntawiheba, John Dusa, and Kamugisha Michael were promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Prisons (ACP).
Senior Superintendents of Prisons (SSP) Béatrice Uwamahoro, Olive Mukantabana, Jean Pierre Olivier Bazambanza, and Sengabo Emmanuel Hilary were promoted to Chief Superintendent (CSP).
Superintendents (SP) including Mukeshimana Marie Rose, Butare Godfrey, Ntakirutimana Eric, Mukeshimana Mwizerwa Dative, Niyindora Théoneste, Bugingo Janet, Ishimwe Emmanuel, Mbarushimana Alain Gilbert, Mugisha Alex Celestin, Muragizi Patrick, and Ntwari Rémy were promoted to Senior Superintendent (SSP).
Junior officers also received promotions: three were promoted to Superintendent from Chief Inspector (CIP), and ten were promoted to Inspector (IP) from Assistant Inspector (AIP).
Among non-commissioned officers and warders, 62 Sergeants were promoted to Senior Sergeant, 20 Corporals became Sergeants, and 77 Warders were promoted to Corporal.
