Kenyan President William Ruto has dismissed Dr. Swarup Mishra from his role as Chairman of the Board of the Kenya BioVax Institute, following allegations of involvement in illegal human organ trade linked to his Mediheal hospitals.
This was announced on Friday, July 4, 2025, through an official government statement signed by President Ruto.
Dr. Mishra, who had been appointed in December 2024, was recently suspended to allow for investigations into his suspected involvement in the sale of human body parts.
President Ruto immediately appointed Dr. Charles Githinji as his replacement. Dr. Githinji was previously a senior official at the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
Dr. Mishra, a former Member of Parliament for Kesses, has repeatedly been accused of involvement in the illegal trade of kidneys and other human organs, sparking public outrage and concern within the medical sector.
