In a surprising and widely discussed message on social media, a user on X (formerly Twitter) named Nibisazi requested the Rwanda National Police to take him to Iwawa Rehabilitation Centre, claiming that life outside was too difficult and expressing his desire to learn a vocational skill.

Nibisazi wrote:
“Hello Police, life out here is hard. Could you please take me to Iwawa so I can learn a trade?”

The Police responded promptly via their official X account, advising him:
“But how about trying to enroll in a TVET school and become self-employed? Who knows, maybe one day you’ll be the one offering jobs to others.”

The police encouraged him to seek opportunities through TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) institutions, where anyone can train in a profession they are passionate about, rather than relying on Iwawa — a center created to assist people facing serious behavioral and life challenges.

The Iwawa Rehabilitation and Vocational Skills Development Centre, located in Rutsiro District, offers training in fields like tailoring, carpentry, agriculture, construction, and more. It also provides basic literacy classes for those who cannot read or write, along with mental health services.
