In Kisangani, a special forces soldier opened fire on his fellow soldiers while on duty on the morning of Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Bangboka International Airport.
According to an officer who spoke to ACTUALITE.CD, three soldiers were killed on the spot, and another was critically injured. The soldier who carried out the act committed suicide after shooting his three colleagues.
The officer stated:
“The soldier had shown clear signs of mental illness. To prevent further risks, his commander had ordered that he be placed under arrest. However, the soldier pretended he needed to use the toilet. When granted permission, he shot the post commander, killing him on the spot. He also shot a fellow soldier nearby, who also died immediately.”
Additionally, he shot the platoon commander, who sustained serious injuries and was taken to the military hospital.
Despite the incident, operations at Bangboka International Airport in Kisangani have continued as usual.
