During a tense Oval Office meeting, U.S. President Donald Trump confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa with a video alleging genocide against white farmers in South Africa. The video, shown in front of journalists, depicted over a thousand graves of white farmers, with Trump stating, “It’s horrifying… I’ve never seen anything like it. All these people were killed.”

Ramaphosa disagreed with Trump’s assertions, even after viewing the video. He emphasized that such rhetoric does not reflect the South African government’s policies. The White House’s official X account shared the video, claiming it as evidence of persecution in South Africa.

South Africa has denied allegations that white individuals are specifically targeted by violence. The video included footage of politician Julius Malema singing a controversial anti-apartheid song with lyrics about killing white farmers. Trump accused Ramaphosa of inaction regarding such incitements.

Despite the confrontation, Ramaphosa stated that the meeting went well, asserting, “There is no genocide in South Africa.” He clarified that the views expressed in the video do not represent government policy and highlighted South Africa’s commitment to a multi-party democracy that allows diverse political expressions.

SkyNews compared this incident to a previous encounter where Trump publicly challenged President Zelensky of Ukraine in the White House.
