On Wednesday, May 7, at his residence known as the Cité de l’Union Africaine, the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, received Robert Dussey, Togo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration, and Togolese Abroad.
Dussey was carrying a message from the President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbé, who was appointed by the African Union as a mediator in the ongoing conflict in eastern DRC and in diplomatic tensions between DRC and Rwanda.

After the meeting, Minister Dussey stated:
“I came to Kinshasa on behalf of President Faure Gnassingbé to deliver a report on the progress he has made in his mediation efforts aimed at restoring peace in eastern DRC.”

President Faure Gnassingbé recently replaced President João Lourenço of Angola, who stepped down from the mediation role in March to focus on his new duties as Chair of the African Union.
