The Rwandan Football Federation (FERWAFA) has announced that the semi-final match of the Peace Cup, which was stopped in the 27th minute between Mukura Victory Sports and Rayon Sports due to a power outage, will resume on April 22, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Huye Stadium, continuing from where it was stopped.

This decision was made following a meeting held on April 16, 2025, in which the Competition Commission analyzed the main reason for the interruption. According to various technical reports, including one from EUCL (Rwanda’s Electricity Utility), the problem was caused by a “short circuit” in the floodlight system, which led to a power failure from both the generator and the main grid.

“FERWAFA stated that the issue fell under a force majeure — meaning it was not due to negligence by the organizers or any avoidable issue. Particularly, Mukura VS, the hosting team, did everything possible, including purchasing fuel for the generator, as usual,” the statement read.

However, Rayon Sports strongly opposed FERWAFA’s decision. The club’s president, Mr. Thadée Twagirayezu, told BB FM Kigali that they are not ready to play that match.

“We’ve just received the decision, but we’re not happy with it,” he said.
“What I can tell you is that we are going to write to FERWAFA to inform them that we are not prepared to play that match. The rules are there to be respected.”

Rayon Sports is expected to appeal the decision, requesting a thorough review of the tournament regulations to ensure full justice.
