Brazilian police have announced that they thwarted a planned bomb attack at a Lady Gaga concert held on the beach at Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday.
The civil police of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, stated that the suspects had hired some concertgoers to carry out bomb attacks, aiming to gain attention on social media.

Police revealed that the mastermind behind the attack and a teenage accomplice were arrested, according to a report by the BBC.
Lady Gaga’s team said they were aware of the planned attack but chose to release the information to the media on Sunday morning after the concert.
More than two million people had gathered for the concert, which was free to attend and funded by the city government.

Authorities stated that the group behind the planned attack was known for spreading hateful rhetoric, particularly targeting children, teenagers, and the LGBTQ+ community.
The man accused of organizing the foiled attack was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, while the teenager was detained for possessing child pornography content in Rio.
