The Rwanda national men’s football team, Amavubi, was defeated 2-0 by Algeria’s Les Fennecs in a friendly match ahead of the World Cup qualifying group stage.
The match took place on the evening of Thursday, June 5, 2025, in the city of Constantine, Algeria, where the Algerian team clearly outclassed Rwanda in performance.
Algeria opened the scoring in the 27th minute, with a header from Youcef Belaïli after a cross from Hicham Boudaoui, who had skillfully dribbled past Niyigena Clément.
In the 58th minute, Algeria scored the second goal through Hadjam Jaouen after Omborenga Fitina failed to clear a ball inside the penalty box.
The starting eleven for Algeria were: Benbot, Tougai, Bensebaini, Atal, Hadjam, Bentaleb, Boudaoui, Maza, Mahrez (c), Belaïli, and Bounedjah.
Rwanda’s starting lineup included: Ntwari, Omborenga, Niyomugabo, Niyigena, Mutsinzi, Ngwabije, Kavita, Bizimana, Gilbert, Aly-Enzo, and Kagere.
The Rwanda national team Amavubi is scheduled to play another friendly match against Algeria’s local-based national team on Monday, June 9, 2025.
