Last night, a presidential candidate in Colombia was shot three times—twice in the head—while addressing a crowd at a campaign rally in the capital, Bogotá.
On Saturday, June 7, 2025, 39-year-old Miguel Uribe Turbay was attacked during his speech. Local media report that the police arrested a 15‑year‑old suspect at the scene.
His wife, María Claudia Tarazona, urged Colombians to pray for his recovery, saying he is “fighting for his life”.
The Centro Democrático party strongly condemned the attack, calling it a threat to both the politician’s life and democracy in Colombia.
Video footage online shows the candidate being shot in the head during his speech, causing panic among the crowd.
French news agencies report he was shot in both leg and head, and was taken by air ambulance to Clínica Santa Fe, where he is currently in critical condition.
