One of Rwanda’s most popular entertainment figures, Asinah, has filed a formal complaint against an Eritrean man, accusing him of slapping her following a disagreement after a dinner outing.
Sources close to Asinah confirmed that she reported the incident to the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), requesting a full investigation into what she described as a case of physical abuse.
According to reports, the incident occurred on the night of May 31, 2025, when Asinah and the man—who are known to each other—went out to eat. Though the evening began well, it ended in a conflict while they were heading home in a car.
As they drove back, the man allegedly asked Asinah to accompany him to his place for a more “private moment.” When she declined, she requested to be dropped off at the nearest safe location.
While the man agreed to drop her off, Asinah says she was shocked to receive a slap just as she was stepping out of the car.
Asinah confirmed to the media that she submitted the complaint to RIB but declined to give further details, stating the matter is now in the hands of the authorities.
As of now, RIB has not issued a public statement regarding the case, but preliminary information suggests that an investigation is underway.
