U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that a “complete” ceasefire between Israel and Iran has been “fully agreed upon.”
Trump stated that the ceasefire is expected to begin within the next few hours as both countries have “cooled down and completed their escalations and final ongoing missions.”
The announcement was made via Trump’s personal social media platform, Truth Social, where he said the agreement would be implemented gradually over the next 24 hours. He added that once fully in effect, it would mark “the end” of the 12-day war.
Trump wrote: “Iran will begin CEASEFIRE and, at hour 12, Israel will begin CEASEFIRE, and at hour 24, it will be the official END of the 12-DAY WAR, which will be appreciated by the world.”
Neither of the two conflicting countries has officially confirmed the ceasefire. However, Iran has indicated that it would stop its attacks if Israel stops its own. Israel has not provided any official response to Trump’s statements.
