The inhabitants of the rural commune of Kanyabayonga, in the chiefdom of Bwito, territory of Rutshuru (North Kivu) complained, Sunday, July 16, of the harassment of the “Wazalendo” militiamen .
For their survival, these local fighters have protected illegal barriers and are charging exorbitant taxes to travelers, under the gaze of the authorities, reported local civil society.
The actors of the civil society of Kanyabayonga, consider these combatants as auxiliaries of the FARDC
This is why they plead for good support for these combatants by the government.
This, to avoid “any movement of uprising of the population already exasperated by the annoyances of these fighters”, said the president of the civil society of Kanyabayonga, Daniel Muhindo Senge Moja.
According to the same source, similar harassment is also reported in other areas occupied by Wazalendo militiamen.
