Rwanda’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Holland, Olivier Nduhungirehe, announced that there is a foreign country that can accept Kabuga Félicien and live there.

It was after he was temporarily released based on the decision taken by the United Nations Court (located in the Netherlands) at the appeal level on August 7, 2023.

Kabuga is now temporarily detained in the cell of the international organization located in The Hague in the Netherlands, only Ambassador Nduhungirehe, in an interview with VOA, indicated that this prisoner may be taken to another country.

Nduhungirehe said: “There may be countries that will ask to receive him. It will accept him but there are conditions he must meet, including confiscating his passport or not to go to some places and report to the authorities for a certain period of time. That may happen but if there is a country that accepts him.

The diplomat explained that countries may not accept Kabuga due to the seriousness of the crimes he is being prosecuted for. What will be done is to keep him in the UN cell in the Netherlands.

Kabuga was arrested in 2020. The trial court ruled that he should not stand trial, based on medical reports that he was too ill to stand trial.
